CAMEROON SWEARS-IN PAUL BIYA AS PRESIDENT TO A SEVENTH TERM

Cameroon has sworn in Paul Biya as it’s President for a seventh term in a row. The 85-year-old, has being at the helm of Cameroon’s affairs for 36 years.

In the swearing-in ceremony supervised by parliamentary speaker Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, the President has pledged to uphold the “integrity” and “unity” of the country.

In the country’s election which took place on 7th of October 2018, Biya secured 71% of the vote but opposition parties has it that the election was marred by fraud.

The swearing in ceremony was however attended by Monday’s kidnapping of 80 people, including 79 students, in a school in the restive North-West region.
